Comments
Comment Section
In the event a visitor leaves a comment in any of our blog posts or articles in the GIK Crib Project, we collect data shown in the comment form. The minimum data we ask from our visitors are as follows:

- Email Address (required)
- Website (optional)
Along with the information we ask for above, our website also records the visitors’ IP address and browser agent string. This additional information helps spam detection. Although we use Google’s reCAPTCHA to make sure that our visitors are real humans and not malicious bots.
Once a comment is made, an anonymized string created from our visitor’s email address (also known as hash) is submitted to Gravatar services. If you are subscribed to Gravatar, please do visit their privacy policy to know who processes your personal information.
The comment will be reviewed by us and once it is approved, our visitors’ profile pictures will be visible to the public in the context of their comments.
Contact Forms
Generally, when you visit GIK Crib Project and wanted to contact us, we direct you to go to our Contact Us page. This page contains our contact email addresses depending on the reason why you want to get in touch with us directly. We don’t require any information from you to submit. In the event you send us an email, we SOLELY use it ONLY to respond to your inquiry.
In some cases, we use contact forms in some blog posts. The purpose of the contact form is for us to address your concern from that specific post. We don’t keep your personal details for other marketing matters but only for the matters referring to in the post.
We also have a subscription form in the event you want to subscribe to our weekly newsletter. Again, we don’t use your personal information, such as name and email address, for other marketing purposes.
As of writing this, we collect and manage all the names (optional) email addresses through a third-party mailing service called MailChimp. This is the platform we use for managing our weekly newsletter. We can only control and manage the personal data you have provided to us upon your subscription to our mailing list. MailChimp still does have its own policies in usage here.
Media
Suggested text: If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

IP addresses and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data
Technically, we don’t share your data with anyone. The personal data you provided to us such as your name and email address will only be used on:
- When you leave a comment to us.
- When you subscribe to our newsletter.

- If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
